In 2010 I took an incredible course at Yestermorrow Design-Build School called Less is More. The course focused on small space design and I loved the opportunity to talk about design tricks with classmates who were boat builders and empty nesters, college students planning to convert a school bus and woodworkers planning to build their own homes. Over the week-long course I go to pour over books of small space design in the Yestermorrow library, pick the brains of my instructors, and develop a design for my very own tiny house on wheels.
Three years and a few tiny houses later, I was invited to teach the course with Dave Cain who was, by then, one of my mentors and friends. So, of course, I said yes! It's been a pleasure teaching Less is More at Yestermorrow over the past three years and I'm excited to teach it again in January 2017.
Please read Less Is More: A 1-Week Small Home Design Intensive to get a sense of how other students have made the most of this course!
If you've been fantasizing about a small space of your own (whether that's a backyard cottage, a converted vehicle, or a tiny house on wheels), this course is a brilliant way to dig deep and have a great time exploring the possibilities. I hope you can join us! Please share with other small space enthusiasts who might be interested, too. The more, the merrier!
