This past weekend I connected with my colleagues (and friends) BA Norrgard and Lee Pera to teach a Tiny House 101 Workshop in Washington, D.C. Our twenty students joined us from various locales ranging from down the street to Florida to Brazil! We had a wide age range for this workshop, too, with a nineteen year old who has just completed his first semester of college to a cluster of wise women who are planning their retirement homes. This variety of perspectives makes for engaging conversation and great questions.
This workshop is tailored to the Tiny House Curious so over the course of the weekend we shared the major considerations that one must explore when deciding to go tiny and the numerous pros and cons to consider for each of these options. It was neat to see how exploring these choices helped some people to shift their thinking, their timelines, their budgets, etc. to be more realistic. (Yes, it's a bummer to find out you can't build a tiny house in 2 months of weekends with 5 tools for $2000, but golly we saved them a lot of time, energy, and heartache!) Others solidified their decisions and commitments and it was awesome to see them so inspired and ready to launch into their tiny house journey!
I look forward to teaching a Tiny House 101 Workshop again in June in Denver, CO with BA Norrgard. If you'd like to join us, please register now so we know you're coming!
Meanwhile, I'm headed to Vermont later this week to teach a two week Tiny House Design-Build workshop at Yestermorrow. Stay tuned for updates on that adventure!
I'll be back home in early April to do a Tiny House Community presentation at the Tiny House Conference which is in Portland this year. I'm excited to be attending Tiny House Conference for the fourth year in a row! Will you be there, too?
The next day, on Monday, April 10, BA Norrgard and I will be teaching a Tiny House Community & Zoning Workshop through Tiny House Collaborative. Needless to say, the next three weeks will be a whirlwind, full of education, inspiration, and empowerment! Tag along with the blog and Instagram for updates. Or register for the Tiny House Conference or Tiny House Community & Zoning Workshop to join in on the fun!
